Our Treatment Types

Meta House offers three treatment settings: residential, outpatient, and a recovery housing community. While our admissions team can help determine which one is right for you or your loved one, here’s a preview of each level of care.

Residential Treatment

In the residential experience, women and their children (ages 10 and under) live with us while receiving intensive, around-the-clock care.

Weekdays are filled with primarily individual and evidence-based group therapy sessions as well as process and discussion groups. Examples of these groups include Recovery Talk, Stages of Change, Stress and Anger Management, Recovery Management, and Seeking Safety. Additional treatment offerings include outside support meetings, yoga, mindfulness, health education, and living skills. Most groups are facilitated by our Master’s-level clinicians, though some discussion groups are led by our team of certified peer specialists. Clinicians on our Child and Family team work with women on parenting skills and with their children to assess and address therapeutic concerns.

Outpatient Treatment

Our outpatient program is guided by the same evidence-based, strength-based principles as our residential program. The outpatient experience at Meta House is individualized to meet women where they are in recovery and offers a variety of supportive services to help women achieve their goals. Services are offered Monday through Friday from 8:00am – 4:30pm. This setting is usually a good fit for women transitioning out of residential treatment and women who have recently experienced a relapse.

Recovery Community

Our Recovery Community offers a safe, affordable, and supportive place for women in early recovery to live. There are two divisions of our housing program, one that serves single women and one that serves women with children. Single women enjoy a private bedroom and share common living spaces with another woman in the program. Women with children enjoy a private two- or three-bedroom apartment based on the family’s need. Each division is clinically-supervised and offers residents a furnished apartment and access to a full array of outpatient treatment services and on-site staff.

At Meta House’s 26 furnished and supervised apartments, single women and families with children are provided a safe, clean environment while women and moms work on their recovery. Women who come to these apartments often lack a support system and safe place to live and have little to no ability to pay for housing. Our Sober Living Community will continue to offer women the opportunity to learn and practice coping skills and find appropriate long-term housing. Within this community, women and families will also have the support of Consumer Peer Specialists and peers who are committed to recovery from substance use disorder. While living in Meta House’s Sober Living Community, women will be asked to engage in 20 hours of meaningful activities per week while continuing to focus on their recovery.
