Prior to joining Meta House, Valerie served as a partner at Quarles and Brady in the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Group and was a member of the firm’s Professional Liability and Financial Services Industry teams.
Valerie has been recognized for her pro bono work as well as her community service. She regularly represented victims of domestic violence in the pursuit of injunctions against their abusers and served as the firm’s point person for a national pro bono project that helped non-violent drug offenders draft petitions to appeal for reductions in their sentences. She successfully argued before the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals on behalf of a pro bono client, creating an important precedent nationwide.
Valerie has been recognized as a 2018 Milwaukee Business Journal 40 Under 40 award recipient, a 2012 United Way of Greater Milwaukee Philanthropic 5 award recipient, a 2011 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee “Match of the Year” award recipient and a “Rising Star” by the Wisconsin Super Lawyers magazine annually since 2012. She was recognized in 2012 for her Outstanding Pro Bono Participation by Legal Action of Wisconsin’s Volunteers Lawyers Project.
Her volunteer Board service has included Meta House (2014 – 2017) and Centro Legal (2011-2017). Valerie is a member the Wisconsin Hispanic Lawyers Association, Hispanic Professionals of Greater Milwaukee and a number of Bar Associations.
